ShowBoats Design Awards-nominated yachts for sale
The 2013 ShowBoats Design Awards are only a few weeks away, in which the best in superyacht design is honoured during a gala evening hosted at the Monaco Opera House on June 21.The kudos of owning a superyacht are well known, but the extra cachet of owning an award-winning yacht is something more entirely. Here we present five of the nominated yachts currently listed for sale.
Launched by Oceanco in 2012, Sam Sorgiovanni is responsible for the contemporary interior, which accommodates 12 guests. The master suite, complete with office, private deck and spa pool, enjoys panoramic views from the foredeck. Five further VIP cabins accommodate the other guests, including a larger one with a lounge and his-and-hers bathrooms.
Nirvana is powered by twin 3,600kW MTU 20V 4000 M73L engines giving a top speed of 20 knots and a transpacific range. Special features include a 7.5 metre swimming pool with a height-adjustable floor on the main aft deck, a helipad on the sun deck, as well as a dedicated indoor 3D cinema
Trinity's 57 metre motor yacht Lady Linda is listed for sale with International Yacht Collection and is a nominee in the interior design semi-displacement motor yacht category.
Lady Linda is the epitome of floating luxury, style and comfort. Her richly decorated interior was designed by Evan K Marshall in a modern classic style with a variety of high-gloss exotic woods, granite and marble, bespoke furniture and exquisite art work.
Lady Linda accommodates 12 guests in six spacious cabins. The sumptuous master suite on the main deck features a king-sized bed, his-and-hers bathrooms and a private study, while located amidships on the lower deck are four guest suites with king-sized beds, all designed with soft, restful tones. The guest suite on the bridge deck has a queen-sized bed and can be converted to a gym.
The steel-and-aluminium displacement motor yacht has a plumb bow, a ship funnel-style mast and an angled windscreen that give her an aggressive, slightly military look. She offers a spacious environment for relaxation with family and friends, sleeping 10 in two twin cabins, two double cabins and one master suite.
Aslec 4 features a large flybridge deck positioned to avoid the superstructure interrupting sightlines, a 70 square metre aft deck, a huge main-deck saloon for entertaining and a dining area on the upper deck near the galley.
Rémi Tessier's interior scheme is modern and typically pure, but the atmosphere is calming rather than severe.
"I wanted to create something very contemporary, very sharp, but warm as well, with unexpected materials," says Tessier. "For example, I treated some surfaces and the ceiling with palladium leaf, so there is some sun reflection inside."
Other parts of the ceiling are clad in black mirror to add perspective, and in contrast to these rich, glossy surfaces, the floor is bleached and sanded sycamore.
The ultra-chic style has been carried into the bridge, where marine electronics specialist Telemar Yachting has incorporated the screens and console into a panel of glass. The wing stations feature similar panels.
H2 designed both the exterior and interior for an experienced yacht owner who was looking for a more distinctive yacht. With its reverse X-bow the exterior is a combination of sharp creases and clean flowing shapes, maximising the interior accommodation without sacrificing its aggressive style. The interior is fresh and modern without looking minimalistic and combines rich maccassar and zebrano woods with warm leathers and fabrics.
Sleeping eight guests in four double staterooms and with her zero speed stabilisers, M offers the highest standards of luxury and comfort.
The original J-class Rainbow won the Americas Cup in 1934 and was designed by William Starling Burgess and built by Herreshoff in the USA. Built by Holland Jachtbouw in 2012 in aluminium, this 39.95 metre Rainbow JH2 replica is based on the original design, with a modern update from Dykstra & Partners.
Built for an experienced sailing yacht owner, she's the first J-class yacht with a complete hybrid propulsion and power system. This means fuel savings of up to 30 per cent as well as a reduction in sound. She is a nominee in the sailing yacht interior design category and is listed for sale with Hoek.
