About the Superyacht Design Festival 2020
The Superyacht Design Festival, previously known as the Superyacht Design Symposium, has been successfully informing, connecting and entertaining the superyacht community and beyond for over a decade. Over the last five years, the event has evolved – offering powerful and inspiring voices from outside the industry, larger networking opportunities and a platform for extended celebration of the world of design.
The Superyacht Design Festival brings together the biggest names in superyacht design and world-famous speakers from the wider luxury community for two days of thought-provoking discussion and exclusives. Headline speakers include Kai-Uwe Bergmann, one of the partners behind Bjarke Ingels' world-famous architecture studio, BIG, and Matthew Cruickshank, Art Director at Google who creates the search engine’s daily animation. Leading superyacht figureheads will take to the stage to discuss emerging construction trends, cutting-edge technologies, the latest developments in sustainability and the interiors of the future, while revealing never-before-seen projects. The event is accompanied by an exciting social programme, providing the opportunity to network with other guests in a variety of settings.
The BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards and the Young Designer of the Year Award will take place on the first night, ahead of the Festival, celebrating excellence in the industry from both newcomers and established brands.
The BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards focus directly on the fundamentals of superyacht design such as naval architecture, exterior design and interior layout, and bring the specialist skills of the industry’s most talented teams into the spotlight.
The Young Designer of the Year Award tasks young designers with a realistic client request to challenge their ideas, technical ability and capacity to deliver a truly imaginative, yet practical, solution.
