Book it now: Highlights of the 2019 Superyacht Design Symposium

Discover Alicia

Join interior designer Susie Atkinson, for an exclusive look inside the newly renovated Alicia, ahead of its official launch this spring. One of the largest – and most challenging – renovations to date, this beautiful yacht has been painstakingly restored both inside and out. Its woodwork is particularly noteworthy, with pitch pine coming from derelict buildings on the Liverpool docks, and teak from similarly dilapidated properties in Burma and India. The original patina was kept on all external wood, and due to an incredible attention to detail throughout – multiple sources were consulted for the period brass work, for example – Alicia looks every one of her 89 years.

Meet the millennial maestros

Between them Franco Loro Piana, Geraldina Bassani (pictured left) and Maria Sole Ferragamo have all cracked the tricky millennial market. Hear what modern luxury means to them, and how they’ve each reinvented iconic items – from the classic polo to a statement necklace – to match quality craftsmanship with 21st century design.

Ski in beautiful surroundings

The Dolomites are some of the most picturesque mountains in the world, and the ancient town of Cortina d'Ampezzo provides the perfect base to explore them. It might be a laid back alpine lunch that tickles your fancy, or the thrills of this year’s Superyacht Design Symposium Ski Cup – which will be sponsored by Moncler, Perini Navi and Technogym – and will welcome World Cup alpine ski racer Peter Fill to set the time challenge. Either way, you’ll be sure to find a wonderful range of slopes for all abilities, and numerous activities to enjoy during your stay.

Party in style

Lastly, it wouldn’t be SDS without the legendary Mountain Party. This year it’ll be held at the end of the close of the first day of the Symposium, allowing guests to chat about the day’s adventures, while feasting on traditional dishes from the Ampezzo valley and sipping on wine from the region of Veneto. Dancing, of course, is optional, but if previous years are anything to go by, you should expect to stay out late...
