Simon Brealey

Simon Brealey

Head of Mechanical Engineering, Lateral Naval Architects

Simon Brealey heads the mechanical engineering discipline within Lateral Naval Architects. Lateral work with both shipyards and owners in order to realise the engineering of complicated and unique large yacht projects.

Simon specialises in the specification and assessment of propulsion systems including novel or new technology. He has previously written technical papers on the application of hybrid propulsion, battery technology and is actively involved in the research and development of hydrogen based technologies. In addition Simon and his team deliver core mechanical engineering activities including the development of piping systems and production of detailed technical space arrangements.

Originally starting work on the refit and repair of Royal Navy nuclear submarines and surface ships he has spent 20 years in the marine design industry. The majority of this time has been within the superyacht segment. Simon has been involved in the build of the yachts Vava II, Jubilee and Bravo Eugenia he is currently working on multiple 100m+ new build projects.
