As Sirena Yachts enters its 20th anniversary year, the Turkish shipyard approaches one of the most pivotal chapters in its history. With two world premieres scheduled this year – the Sirena 118 and the Sirena Superyachts 42m – the brand is celebrating a milestone year. With both projects firmly on schedule for their late summer launches, the 36-metre Sirena 118 has already been sold to a repeat Sirena client, while the 42-metre is actively for sale.

Sirena’s movement into larger yachts has been deliberate, with each new model designed to build logically on what came before. The yard’s product portfolio is currently comprised of the 48, 60, 68, 78 and 88, meaning the arrival of the Sirena 118 and the Sirena Superyachts 42m extends the range in both directions – the 118 as the flagship of the composite series, the Sirena Superyachts 42m as the foundation of the yard’s steel and aluminium future. “I think it’s a natural evolution of the brand,” says Ali Onger, Sirena’s chief commercial officer.

Sirena 118: A composite milestone

The launch of the 36-metre Sirena 118 will mark a defining moment for the shipyard. As the largest yacht ever built in Sirena’s composite line, it represents a significant step up in both volume and onboard experience when compared to the yard’s next-largest model, the nine-metre-smaller Sirena 88. With exteriors designed in-house at Sirena, naval architecture by Germán Frers and interiors by Cor D. Rover, the sub-300GT platform allows for a level of flexibility and spatial creativity in a tri-deck layout not previously possible within the range.

One of the most notable features is the main deck owner’s suite, Onger explains. “The owner will essentially have a loft,” he says. “While the owner’s cabin is on the main deck, there will be stairs leading down to an area that can be customised to whatever they like, such as an office or hobby area. This will have an open bulwark for a fold-down balcony.”

Major technical and interior milestones have been reached in recent months as the Sirena 118 enters the next phase of construction. Lower-deck furniture production has now been completed, with assembly scheduled to follow as the build progresses. Systems integration continues in parallel, with insulation, plumbing, piping, panel installation, cable routing and technical equipment all advancing steadily across the lower deck.

Externally, the yacht is also taking on its final form, with sliding doors already in place, teak decking production underway and paint preparation works progressing in advance of final application.

Sirena Superyachts 42m: Classic design with modern thinking

If the Sirena 118 is about pushing the limits of composite construction, the Sirena Superyachts 42m represents a different kind of statement as the foundation of the yard’s Sirena Superyachts steel and aluminium range. At 42.2 metres LOA, it will be the flagship of the Sirena Superyachts range and the largest yacht built by Sirena Marine to date.

“We have to grow in size, but we need to ensure each model still has volume,” Onger explains. “Below 40 metres, we are working with GRP, but it has its restrictions. So steel and aluminium was a good fit for us to have a larger, stronger and more voluminous Sirena Superyachts 42m model.”

Naval architecture for the Sirena Superyachts 42m has been developed by Van Oossanen, with the yacht benefitting from the studio’s Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF), a proven platform that allows for increased efficiency while delivering a generous internal volume of 433GT.

The exterior and interior layouts are by Luca Vallebona, with interior styling by Hot Lab, and the overall concept is described by its creators as an ‘architectural journey’, designed to be experienced through “texture, light and spatial flow”. Key highlights include the generous master cabin with a private patio, multiple entertaining areas, large exterior relaxation zones and the substantial beach club with drop-down bulwarks. The layout remains customisable, with the option to position the owner’s suite on either the main or upper deck, enabling different configurations such as a formal dining area within the saloon or a more relaxed arrangement, alongside the option of a dedicated bow guest area for dining or lounging.

Onger adds: “I think the Sirena Superyachts 42m is for someone who wants to have a classic design, not something that is extravagant, but something classy yet has modern features. For example, you have an amazing master cabin that connects to a secluded bow area that is completely reserved for the owner.”

Construction is progressing steadily, with the yacht currently in the painting phase. The hull and superstructure are nearing completion, while major systems installation is underway, including the main engines. Interior joinery and outfitting are also advancing in parallel, bringing the project closer to its debut.

Both the Sirena 118 and the Sirena Superyachts 42m are expected to be showcased in or around the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Monaco Yacht Show later this year, marking a defining moment in Sirena’s 20th anniversary year.
