Acclaim for the Hainan Rendez-Vous from superyacht brokers

Now that the exhibitors at the third Hainan Rendez-Vous in China are back in their offices, I conducted a quick poll and the results are overwhelmingly favourable.

Says Patrick Coote at Fraser Yachts: 'Marketers often refer to the buying process by the acronym A.I.D.A (Awareness, Interest, Desire, Action). Fraser Yachts had a highly successful show and the number of qualified visitors far exceeded our expectations. We are definitely starting to see some action, that's certain.'

Michael White and Axel Douque of Ocean Independence were displaying Sanlorenzo's 38.5m Onyx and comment, 'Predominantly potential buyers came from mainland China and Hong Kong, with the Shanghai area producing much of the serious interest.

'The leads generated at the show mean that we now have several offers under consideration for Onyx, with two follow-up visits scheduled this weekend when she will be in Hong Kong.'

Now over to Bertrand Vogele, CEO of Yachting Partners International: 'Hainan was bigger and better than ever this year - the organisers were very proactive in attracting the right type of people to the Show. As the only Western broker with three Chinese offices, we really saw the difference having a well established Chinese team and network makes.

'We had some clients who made an offer on a yacht during the Show, and we had a lot of interest in our new Chinese CA, the just-launched 42m Kingship, Star with many important enquiries to follow up on. Our Chinese staff, their contacts and 40 years of YPI know-how is what is making the difference for us today. I am pleased to say that YPI is now a leader in the Chinese market.'
