The 71.6-metre Nansen Explorer has joined the market with James Pool of Y.CO.

Built in "special steel" in 1983 by Finnish shipbuilder Laivateollisuus, the 1A ice-classed vessel has recently been owned, refitted and operated by expedition specialists. Her exterior was designed in-house by the yard and her interior is by NMI and Åshild Landevaag, Landz Arcitects.

Nansen Explorer is asking €15,900,000.

With ice-breaking capability, she underwent a multi-million euro refit from 2021 to 2022, including a full hull repaint and interior rebuild as well as addition of the hangar and obtaining commercial certification.

Accommodation is for a party of 12 in seven cabins., which are described as "Scandi-chic in style". She has quarters for a crew of 22 in 17 cabins – plus a medic's cabin.

The broker pointed out that onboard space is vast and Nansen Explorer has a huge "adventure hangar" holding heli-ski gear, diving equipment and "heli ops". Her commercial heli deck combined with the ability to refuel a helicopter or a mothership, as well as launch tenders fast, are said to make her the "ultimate in exploration".

The 1,859GT explorer yacht for sale has an impressive 12,000 nautical mile range. Cruising speed is 10 knots and maximum speed 12 knots. Nansen Explorer has a strong charter record and could operate as a standalone explorer or a yacht support vessel.

Nansen Explorer is asking €15,900,000.
