Dunya Yachts
Istanbul, Turkey is the cosmopolitan location of custom superyacht builder Dunya Yachts, which undertakes the refit, repair and new construction of luxury yachts in the 70- to 100-metre range, in collaboration with noted designers.
History of Dunya Yachts
The story of this luxury yacht builder is really the story of two companies – Ursa Shipyard, which was founded in 1983 in Istanbul’s Tuzla district to undertake service and repair of small and medium-sized yachts, and Dunya Maritime, which was established in 1985 in association with Ganship Limited of London. The following year, the two companies merged, forming Dunya Yachts, with the goal of building custom superyachts.
Notable Dunya Yachts
In 2013, Dunya Yachts launched the 73-metre custom superyacht Red Square (now Axioma). She has a sleek exterior by Sterling Scott Yacht Design, and a luxurious beach-house style interior design by the late Alberto Pinto. Among the yacht’s many unique features are a two-storey saloon, cinema, gymnasium, large spa pool and helipad.
