Live tracking of boats in this year's Transatlantic Superyacht & Maxi Regatta

27 November 2012

Fans can now track, in real time, the boats participating in the Transatlantic Superyacht & Maxi Regatta 2012.

The six maxis and superyachts crossed the starting line off Santa Cruz de Tenerife at 1pm (UTC) today. The passage under sail usually takes from 10 to 16 days.

Live tracking is available on both the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) website and the International Maxi Association (IMA) website. The sites will track each yacht's progress in real time and contain links to several of the boats' blogs from the regatta.

The fifth edition of the event, organised by the YCCS and the IMA, will see the fleet of sailing giants navigate approximately 2,700 miles to reach the finish line in British Virgin Gorda where the YCCS has its a winter clubhouse. The course record was set by last year's line honours winner Hetairos, which finished in just under eight days and 11 hours.
