Guilio Riggio of Fraser Yachts in Palma is central agent for the 18.9 metre classic yacht Marguerita, once owned by John Wayne.

“The boat was brought over to Majorca from California by Dock Express last year,” explained Riggio this morning. “The owners are very sad about selling the boat, but they love Majorca and want to buy a house here.”

Consequently, Marguerita is for sale at €760,000. Awarded a special trophy at the Conde de Barcelona Regatta by the King of Spain, Marguerita underwent extensive work last winter. “A lot of money has been spent on her recently,” continues Riggio. “Restoration work and new varnish work with new antifoul and new anodes, for example. All offers on the yacht will be considered,” he adds.

Built in 1933 by Britt Bros. of Boston and refitted in 1991, the yacht has accommodation for six guests and a cruising speed of ten knots. Currently lying in Port Rosas near Ampuriabrava, Riggio stresses that the owners are open to offers as they are very keen on buying a house.
