ANNE S. PIERCE was originally launched in 1982 at the Lunenburg Shipyard in Nova Scotia as a North Atlantic scallop dragger for the Clearwater Fish Company. Built for the demands of commercial fishing, she was later repurposed as a research and training vessel for Memorial University in Newfoundland. From 2019 to 2021, she underwent a complete remanufacture at Glovertown Shipyard in Newfoundland, converting her into a modern 500+ ton expedition yacht with a service-driven design.

Her structure remains her greatest strength. The North American steel hull and 14-foot draft provide durability well beyond typical yacht standards. To counterbalance the addition of a new 20,000-pound pilothouse, 350,000 pounds of concrete were poured into the hull, restoring her original displacement and stability. All major systems were either replaced with new North American components or fully rebuilt during the refit. A deliberate choice was made to install individual mini-split induction heat pumps instead of a central climate system, ensuring ease of replacement and servicing anywhere in the world.

The main deck is arranged for functionality and comfort. The galley flows aft into a large dining area and lounge framed by a bank of Diamond Sea Glaze windows. A wood-burning stove, installed over a brick and steel fire barrier, provides reliable heat in any climate. Interior finishes are cherrywood, mahogany, and shiplap, giving the yacht a clean, practical aesthetic.

Guest accommodations include five staterooms for up to 14 guests. Crew are housed in two cabins for six, with the option to expand to three cabins for 12. Layouts prioritize efficiency for long voyages while maintaining space and privacy for owners and guests.

The pilothouse salon and flybridge were constructed as a new steel module, craned and welded in place during the refit. Features include reverse-raked windows, a navigator’s berth, and a balcony with full 360-degree visibility. A second wood stove, built by the same foundry that cast the hull steel, reinforces the yacht’s reliable expedition character.

ANNE S. PIERCE is engineered for long-range exploration with simple, dependable systems and a robust commercial hull foundation. She is a proven platform for extended cruising in remote areas, offering both capacity and serviceability. With her recent refit and documented history, she presents a strong opportunity for buyers seeking a capable and reliable expedition vessel.
