Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche (CDM) has offered a first look inside Babbo, its "one off" 42.6-metre explorer yacht build. Babbo has travelled "thousands of miles" since her delivery in September 2024, with her experienced owners "profoundly satisfied" by the project.
"We spent years enjoying life aboard the previous Babbo (now My True Blue), appreciating her thoughtful design, dependable performance and all the moments she allowed us to share as a family," explained the owners. "Over time, as our family expanded and our needs evolved, we realised we required a larger yacht to offer everyone greater comfort and space."
Exterior design has been completed in collaboration with Italian designer Francesco Paszkowski, while naval architecture is owed to Hydro Tec. Key numbers include 499GT of internal volume and an 8.7-metre beam.
Equipped with a steel hull and boasting a cruising range of 5,000 nautical miles, Babbo can sail in extreme conditions and reach far-flung destinations. The yacht is powered by two heavy-duty Caterpillar C32 Acert engines which are IMO Tier III-compliant and offer a top speed of 14 knots.
The interiors of the model have been designed with an "indoor/outdoor ethos" realised through an extensive use of glass in both the main and upper deck saloon, with the latter offering a bright and airy glass-wrapped veranda for direct connection with the sea. There are four double suites for guests located on the main deck forward, with another two twin cabins on the lower deck. Crew cabins are also found on the lower deck, alongside a sizeable galley with a crew mess and laundry.
Leisure highlights include the sundeck, arranged with dining facilities, a bar, sunbeds and a panoramic swimming pool, as well as a "cosy" main saloon – owing to the relatively small superstructure – and a choice of indoor and outdoor dining on the upper deck.
Babbo can also carry a range of toys, with a dedicated tender storage located forward on the upper deck. Meanwhile, her lower deck is configured as a large lazarette accommodating diving equipment, bicycles, water toys and laundry facilities. The sauna and Hammam open directly onto the lazarette, which is accessible via a staircase from the main deck cockpit or directly from the swim platform.
According to BOATPro, CDM has 14 yachts currently on order or under construction. This news follows the delivery of RJ – the yard's largest explorer yacht to date – and Project T, which will be attending this year's Cannes Yachting Festival.
