Oceanco has provided a closer look at one of the first yachts in its new 80-metre Simply Custom collection. Named Clarity, the Espen-Øino-designed superyacht is one of the early iterations from the range, which aims to offer a proven naval platform with a variety of distinctive designs that can be heavily customised.
Espen Øino's Clarity is characterised by her energy-efficient design, including "very large superstructure overhangs" that provide shade and reduce heat gain inside the yacht on the decks below. The excess surfaces would then be used to install solar cells.
Extensive, shaded exterior space is also incorporated throughout. This includes the main deck lounge which, envisioned as a large winter garden, can be opened to make use of the wind as natural ventilation. "The overall objective [is to] to reduce the onboard energy consumption and increase the renewable part of the onboard energy production," explained Espen Øino. Initial renderings reveal a swimming pool forward and a minimalist aesthetic that makes use of light woods and neutral-toned furniture.
Simply Custom was first presented at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2023. "The 80-metre sector is our bread and butter," said Oceanco’s group marketing director, Paris Baloumis at the time, pointing to yachts like Alfa Nero and Aalto (ex Amevi). He also noted that in certain Mediterranean countries, cruising restrictions are tighter for superyachts measuring in excess of 80 metres, highlighting the need for enhanced environmental protections.
Clarity belongs to a portfolio of 17 superyachts, including projects such as Reverie by Winch Design and Storm by H2 Yacht Design.
