Monaco Yacht Show: Benetti presents 85m custom Project Oro

29 September 2022• Written by Katia Damborsky

Italian shipyard Benetti has unveiled an 85 metre concept project during the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show.

Named Project Oro, the features a full-custom design from Giorgio M Cassetta and has been conceived to target a number of the design request that clients frequently desire when buying a yacht in this size bracket.

The yacht's exterior is characterised by a plumb bow and arching lines that taper into curved aft decks. Onboard highlights include a large beach club with unfolding sea terraces on both sides of the beam, with the terraces extending all the way to the stern of the yacht. This design promotes a strong connection between the main deck and beach club, which are connected by two staircases on either side of the transom.

Crowning the yacht is a 400 square metre sundeck that’s equipped with numerous lounging, dining and relaxation areas. It is served by a pair of elevators, providing increased accessibility to owners and guests alike. According to Sebastiano Fanizza, Benetti's CCO, the spacious sundeck was born from the demands of clients looking for a liveable and large alfresco space to enjoy.

Elsewhere, the foredeck has a recessed seating area and there is a transverse swimming pool on the aft, just above the beach club.

With a GT of around 2,500 and an LOA of 85 metres, the yacht would be the sixth largest custom project ever built by the Italian yard.

“During the development of Project Oro, we wanted to seize the opportunity to express numerous innovative concepts, aspiring to bring them together in a unique yacht,” explained Giorgio M Cassetta.

“By developing a language of style featuring great visual purity and strong characterisation of the main masses, and by renouncing the criteria of civil architecture in favour of a freer and more fluid approach, we have tried to propel the project into an attainable future. We hope the bold content recognises a series of desires that customers in this size range frequently express and are unlikely to have found fulfilled by the boats they have looked at so far,” he continued.

Like many other Benetti yachts, Project Oro would be fitted with hybrid propulsion.

As well as announcing Project Oro, Benetti also used the Monaco Yacht Show to unveil new developments in its B.NOW and B.CENTURY series.
