28 March 2011 • Written by Raphael Montigneaux

The Chinese-based shipyard Prout International has started the construction of their second PT-138, at 42.06m the world's largest sailing trimaran superyacht.

The PT-138-02 will reach excellent performances with a top speed of 20 knots with 815sqm of sail area, and a cruising speed of 15 knots with her engines: a single Caterpillar C-12 in the main hull and twin Steyr Hybrid diesel engines fitted in the port and starboard wing hulls.

The Prout PT-138-02 was infused in a time of only three hours in early March. This piece is believed to be the largest single epoxy one infused in the world.

The construction of both PT-138 sailing trimaran superyachts continues with deliveries scheduled in late 2011 for the first one and in 2012 for the second.
