Sanlorenzo has debuted its first 35.75-metre SD118 yacht model from the Italian yard's its line of semi-displacement yachts. Showcased at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the SD118 features a new layout, a performance-driven hull and a more contemporary style of external lines penned by Zuccon International Project.
Key exterior features include a forward outdoor living area split across two levels, with direct access to the owner’s cabin, and a restyled stern, which can be transformed into a swim platform of 19 square metres when the yacht is at anchor.
The yard states that 13 units of the 290GT SD118 have already been sold with the interiors from designers such as Daniel and Michel Bismut, Patricia Urquiola and Liaigre.
"This project continues the path started with SD96 and confirms my deep interest in this range of products, composed of navettes, a term that recalls some of the most romantic aspects of sailing, linked to the desire to go to sea without haste, enjoying life on board for a long time. SD118 is therefore aimed at those shipowners who enjoy what in my opinion is the greatest luxury, namely time,” comments Bernardo Zuccon, Zuccon International Projects.
“I started from the desire to maintain some "fixed points" related to this fascinating typology of which the project is part of, and continue my research related to new concepts of living the sea. Hence my choice to apply the theme of asymmetry," he adds. The asymmetry within the design can be seen on the upper deck, where a direct view of the sea is granted from both sides of the yacht, and through the port side walkway that runs from stern to bow. Also on the bulwark, the saloon opens to form a terrace.
The yacht features a beam of 7.9 metres and has two propulsion package options. Owners can either choose a pair of MTU 10V2000M86 1380hp engines, for a top speed of 18 knots, or a pair of CAT Acert C32 1622hp engines, for a top speed of 19 knots. The SD118 will have a cruising speed of 11 knots.
