SY Design unveils 52m superyacht concept Kairos

Italian studio SY Design, co-founded by Matteo Sassone and Veronica Yien, has unveiled Kairos, a new 52-metre motor yacht concept designed entirely around the relationship with the sea.

Comprised of lightweight aluminium, Kairos is characterised by open, continuous spaces and a layout designed to live "naturally" aboard each deck. Clean, uninterrupted surfaces adorn the yacht's profile, sweeping from bow to stern to create a visual flow and balanced, dynamic appearance.

A defining feature of the design can be found aft, where lies a beach club with a waterfall-fed, sea-level pool to ensure a close connection to the environment. Wide lateral hull openings here also help to extend the views over the water while simultaneously filling the area with natural light from all angles. Just a few steps above, the main deck cockpit is conceived as an open, waterside terrace, fitted with informal twin L-shaped sofas and glass bulwarks for uninterrupted sightlines.

Despite the yacht's enticing stern arrangement, one of Kairos' principal outdoor living spaces is the sundeck. Spanning roughly 105 square metres, the deck allows for a range of configurations for the owner's needs, whether it be relaxation, entertaining or solitary enjoyment, fitted with comfortable seating areas and sunpads. The foredeck is equally as versatile, intentionally left uncluttered for freestanding furniture to be arranged depending on the occasion.

Kairos has been developed with a broad nine-metre beam and an internal volume that sits below the 500GT threshold. As a result, interior spaces are plentiful, with a layout drawn to balance private and social spaces while ensuring smooth circulation throughout.

Accommodation is for up to 12 guests in six cabins - five of which are situated on the lower deck. In a standard arrangement, the owner's suite lies forward of the main deck and benefits from expansive glazing and panoramic views.

There are two garages for toys and tenders on board. A dedicated forward garage houses jet skis and a rescue tender, while the main tender garage for the yacht’s primary tender is positioned aft with hassle-free side access.

Earlier this year, the studio presented a 45-metre explorer yacht concept known as Anvil, based on a philosophy where contrast is the design language.
