Revolutionary is an epithet as overused as it is underutilised in yachting. When used, it is often misplaced - with design lineages overlooked, sometimes outright ignored, or innovations poorly researched or simply overreaching. It's then a term best avoided. Yet, it is hard to find a more accurate term for luxury smart boat brand MIRAVA.
MIRAVA has infused the sophistication of Italian yacht design with innovative smart technology. Arman Fissette and Emanuele Bomboi are behind the design. Fissette has previously worked on projects with Feadship, Oceanco, Sinot Yacht Design & Architecture and Wajer, while Bomboi is a former senior design director at Italian sports car manufacturers including FCA Group and Maggiora-Viotti. That expertise has been translated into a modular tender philosophy with smart technology integrated throughout.
Unlike most superyacht tenders on the market that are designed and engineered for a singular purpose, MIRAVA was driven by the idea of unlimited possibilities - in whatever expression that might mean for its owners. "Every design begins with a question," explains Fissette. "What does freedom on the water look like today, for a family or for someone young enough to still be discovering it? The answer took shape as a Swiss Army knife - not in appearance, but in principle. A single, honest form that quietly holds many functions, each one ready when it's reached for and out of the way when it isn't."
Constructed from Glass Reinforced Fibre Plastic (FRP), MIRAVA smart boats are lightweight and nimble at the helm. Its 2.44-metre beam provides space for up to eight guests, while a series of distinct lounging areas gives the compact platform a surprising sense of space and privacy. Bomboi describes the aesthetic as "Scandinavian in its restraint. Nothing is added for effect. Every surface earns its place, curves are calm rather than decorative, and whatever complexity the boat contains is folded away beneath a surface that stays quiet to the eye." A degree of customisation is also available.
The first of these lounges is on the open and cushioned foredeck, which offers the option to hang a hammock from the tubular frame or wrap the space in a lightweight acrylic canopy, creating shelter if the weather takes a turn. There is also a restroom, allowing guests to travel further and stay out longer. Beneath the hardtop, additional seating and a picnic table create a sheltered space behind the helm.
It is at the stern, however, that MIRAVA's modular design comes into its own. The aft lounge features a clever system with a hydraulic arm. When set within the boat, it creates a retreat at water level, yet it can also be extended to open up the aft into a larger area for different activities, and the revealed hard-floor surface is ideal for fishing or other watersports. The section can be completely untethered from the boat to create an independent floating island for two people, operated by a central joystick and powered by a 330 W motor and coupled with one of two battery banks, which deliver either four to six hours of independent cruising.
That tech-forward mindset extends well beyond the floating island. All MIRAVA boats are equipped with technology designed to work quietly in the background, enhancing the experience while improving safety. Autonomous smart docking and Dynamic Positioning come as standard, alongside an integrated autonomous navigation system, allowing MIRAVA boats to travel safely from point to point without anyone at the helm. This technology is already proven at scale in the commercial and defence sectors.
The integrated autonomous navigation system also allows for boundaries to be set, which can be useful if creating a commercial venture from these boats. A set area can be pre-programmed to create a safe zone where the boats can and cannot cruise. They also come with smart wearables, making this feature unique for open water swimming, paddle boarding or diving, as owners can programme the boat to follow at a safe distance, meaning you can travel further without ever having to return to the boat – as it would quite literally be on your tail.
MIRAVA has launched the line with two propulsion packages. The first is fully electric, with a 100 kWh battery bank that generates 150hp, a top speed of 20 knots and an economical cruising operational range of up to 11 hours. This battery bank can be fast-charged and it takes approximately one hour to charge from 10 to 80 per cent. There is also the possibility of purchasing a MIRAVA with a 250hp outboard engine, which boasts speeds up to 30 knots.
Flexibility is built in at every level of her design, with every aspect engineered towards one end: a platform for every type of on-water experience. The luxury with MIRAVA is not simply having more space, more technology or more ways to use a yacht tender. It is having the freedom not to decide in advance what the day will become.
The electric MIRAVA boat will make its global debut at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival, and the team will also be at boot Düsseldorf in the new year. Contact MIRAVA today for more information.
