Giusseppe Balducci, Overmarine Group founder and president, has died.
A prominent figure in the yachting industry, Balducci is also responsible for creating marine electrical systems provider, Elettromare, which he founded in 1971.
He would later go on to establish Overmarine, specialising in the construction of fast maxi-open yachts. The yard's initial model, the Mangusta 80, has proven to be a timeless hit among consumers, selling as many as 85 units in the years since its release.
"Giuseppe will always be remembered as a reserved man, with a subtle sense of humour and a great love for his wife Bruna, his children Maurizio and Katia, his beloved granddaughters, and all his employees, who, together with him, have built vessels that have become icons in the marine
industry," Overmarine said in a statement.
One of Balducci's final acts before his passing was to oversee the construction of a new manufacturing plant in Pisa, which is set to open over the next few days.
