British shipyard Pendennis has announced the death of its joint founder and managing director Henk Wiekens.
In a statement, Pendennis said that Wiekens would leave a hole in the Pendennis family. "Henk has been instrumental in the growth and development of Pendennis and has inspired generations of talent from all areas of the marine industry," read the statement.
"Henk was so proud and felt privileged to have worked with so many wonderful people over the years and his love for life, energy and endless enthusiasm will be missed by many across the world and of course by the whole team at Pendennis."
Pendennis was founded in 1988 after yachtsman and entrepreneur Peter de Savary bought the shipyard and relocated it to Falmouth Docks. Wiekens joined the firm, alongside Mike Carr, shortly afterwards and helped grow the yard into one of the world's finest refit, repair and new build shipyards.
