Q1 brokerage review: Market shows signs of cooling off

The first quarter Q1 of 2023 showed a dramatic slowdown in the number of superyachts being sold. There were 86 superyacht sales completed, which is 63 per cent of the 136 sales recorded in the last quarter Q4 of 2022. The figure is 54 per cent of the 160 sales in Q1 of 2022 and 57 per cent of the 150 in Q1 of 2021.

The past couple of years have been unanimously acknowledged by brokers to have been bumper years for sales, but the figures seem to indicate a cool-down period.  The numbers are, however, comparable to the first quarters of 2019 (88 sales) and 2020 (92 sales).
