British yacht and architectural design studio Winch Design has unveiled its Kuredhi Residence at Velaa Private Island in the Maldives, following a complete redesign.
The studio has now worked on several hotel projects, including The Wharf Marina & Spa Resort in the Seychelles and The Owo in London.
Set on a secluded stretch of shoreline within the Noonu Atoll-based resort, the four-bedroom beachfront residence was centred on strengthening the connection between the interiors and the surrounding landscape.
To achieve this, the studio employed a palette of natural materials and soft coastal tones to create what it describes as “a sanctuary rooted in place”.
The interiors now feature high, beamed ceilings and full-height windows to maximise light and ocean views. The space is filled with organic textures, including woven raffia, lacquer finishes inspired by seashells, and patinated metals. Key pieces include a Minotti Hamilton sofa, sculptural loungers by Piegatto and textile installations by Anne Kyyrö Quinn.
Externally, the residence opens onto a private terrace with an infinity pool, hot tub pavilion and open-air dining spaces, all designed to encourage informal outdoor living. Guests will also have direct beach access, and dense surrounding greenery ensures privacy. A private chef and butler service is also part of the Kuredhi Residence offering, as well as an exclusive gym.
The redesign of the Kuredhi Residence forms part of an ongoing programme to refresh accommodation at Velaa Private Island. The resort has also recently unveiled a reimagined Lha Velaa Kids Club.
Named after the “Little Turtle” in Dhivehi and inspired by the owner’s daughter, the new concept was developed in collaboration with Worldwide Kids, a top provider of luxury family and childcare services.
The Kuredhi Residence is now open to guests and available to book year-round.
