20 March 2022

Hosted by BOAT International and Belmond, Between the Bays offers superyacht owners the chance the explore the islands of Anguilla and Saint Martin in the company of like-minded peers. Open to motor and sailing yachts from 24 metres and upwards, the unique event will showcase two of Belmond’s finest properties – Cap Juluca in Anguilla and La Samanna in Saint Martin – as part of a packed social programme.

When and where?

The BOAT International & Belmond Between the Bays superyacht event took place on 9 March 2023 at the Cap Juluca resort in Anguilla. Sitting in the north of the Leeward Islands, just north of Saint Martin and St Barths, the low-lying island is famed for white sand beaches that sit against a vibrant backdrop of tropical foliage. The resort of Cap Juluca in Maundays Bay, acted as a tranquil base from which the programme will allow participants to explore the best Anguilla has to offer.

On the morning of Saturday 11 March, yachts cruised in company less than 10 nautical miles to La Samanna in Saint Martin. Set in the far-west corner of the dual-nationality island – which is well-known in the yachting fraternity – a closing party was held on the resort’s private beach, before yachts departed the following morning.

Which resorts are incorporated in Between the Bays?

Yachts participating in the Between the Bays superyacht event had the opportunity to experience the incredible resorts of Cap Juluca in Anguilla and La Samanna in Saint Martin.

Set on one of the best beaches in the world, Maundays Bay, on the southwest shores of Anguilla, Cap Juluca is spread across more than 70 hectares. First opened in 1988 the island hideaway is packed with quirky touches, including bicycles and vintage Volkswagen vans to transport guests. With four restaurants on site – including Cip’s by Cipriani – gourmands will not be disappointed, and the property’s Arawak Spa will help you relax into the barefoot vibe.

The programme continues in Saint Martin where perched next to one of the Caribbean’s most famous stretches of beach lies La Samanna, combining a Caribbean atmosphere with a touch of French Riviera style. Set on the west coast of Saint Martin the resort opened in the late 1970s, and its bright white architecture is interspersed by lush tropical gardens. Maintaining its Mediterranean feel the resort’s L’Oursin restaurant serves up French delicacies and provides a perfect conclusion to the weekend programme.
