Dutch shipyard Feadship has unveiled a new 75.5-metre yacht concept known as Etherea.
The ready-to-build superyacht features an in-house design by Studio de Voogt and Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects, while Italian design studio FM Architettura is behind the interior styling - previously collaborating with the yard on several builds, including Somnium, Zen and the recently delivered Stella M.
Etherea's design takes inspiration from nature's four elements (earth, air, fire, and water) and more specifically the fifth element named "ether", which is believed to be the "more elusive force" connecting them all. A plumb bow, extensive glazing and taut, sweeping lines characterise the design, resulting in a low, timeless profile that has been carefully curated to withstand all elements and seasons.
Said to be an evolution of the yard's previous concept designs, Etherea is presented as a "sleeker and sharper expression" in a steel and aluminium construction. Split-level architecture across her profile allows for a full sundeck without the need for a bridge deck, as well as opening up the interiors to allow for more generous living spaces.
Inside, structural glass and skylights have been used to create brighter interiors and undisturbed sight lines across each deck. This can be seen on the owner's deck, where transparency extends outwards from the bow lounge, which is visually connected to the skylight above the owner’s suite, and through to the winter garden - a veranda conceived as a "four-season retreat" with sliding windbreak panels offering a summer breeze or climate control in winter.
To aft, a glass-encased pool (with glass sides and a glass bottom) is the centrepiece, illuminating the spa, lounge and bar below in the beach club.
Life on board Etherea has been penned to flow seamlessly between work and leisure, as well as large celebrations and quiet, personal reflection. Drawing from natural elements found along the Californian coast, FM Architettura has used neutral hues, tactile materials and a palette of powder-blues, greens and browns to define the living spaces, penned for "effortless living" and intending to create an atmosphere that is "both grounded and fluid".
"At its heart, the concept envisions a yacht conceived as a true residence on the water, not a temporary retreat but a permanent living environment that merges residential comfort with the freedom of continuous voyaging," the shipyard noted.
Propulsion for Etherea is proposed with twin Veth POD CR1250is, expected to provide a 14.5-knot maximum speed and a 12-knot cruising speed with a 4,500 nautical-mile range. Key specs include a beam of 12.3 metres and a 3.5-metre draft.
Feadship's last concept design was unveiled at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show in commemoration of its 75th Diamond Anniversary.
