BOAT International announced at the Superyacht Design Festival 2023 that it is launching the Artistry & Craft Awards 2024 to celebrate exceptional craftsmanship in the superyacht industry.
The new BOAT Artistry & Craft Awards have been created to highlight the talent and creativity of those who spend hours curating beautiful objects for superyachts. A select panel of four judges, chaired by BOAT’s creative director Christopher Whale, will be choosing the winners.
“We are thrilled to be launching these awards that will enable us to celebrate a talented part of the industry that is often overlooked,” says Whale. “Of course, there are many beautiful new superyachts that hit the water each year, but it is the skill and expertise behind the finer details on board that I believe truly takes these vessels to another level of luxury.”
The 2024 awards will launch with two categories: Excellence in Craftsmanship and Emerging Artisan of the Year. The first award recognises an object that in the judges’ view is “second to none”. The special piece, which does not need to be integrated, must have appeared on board a yacht that was delivered between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023.
The second award seeks to bring to light an artisan whose work has recently appeared onboard a yacht for the first time, and who shows outstanding talent and promise. As with the first category the individual artist must have been featured onboard a yacht delivered between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023.
