24 February 2012

Guests attending the World Superyacht Awards gala evening on 5 May will be able to make the most of their time in the city of Istanbul in the days surrounding the event with a cultural programme of activities organised by Boat International Media and its local partners and sponsors with the assistance of Plan Tours.

Highlights of the programme, which extends from Friday 4 May to Monday 7 May, include visits to the Rahmi M. Koç Museum, the first major museum in Turkey dedicated to the history of transport, industry and communications which houses a vast collection ranging from gramophone needles to full size ships and aircraft, and Topkapi Palace, the primary residence of the Ottoman Sultans for almost 400 years, and an opportunity to shop for anything from antiques to gold jewellery at the Grand Bazaar, one of the largest covered markets in the world which has been in existence since 1461.

For guests wishing to explore Istanbul at their own leisure the Kempinski's 5-star concierge service will be readily available to recommend the region's finest restaurants, spas and other points of interest.

There will also be invitation-only yard tours of three of the world's leading shipyards - Proteksan Turquoise, RMK Marine and Perini Navi.
