This year, students are asked to imagine themselves as a junior designer working for De Voogt Naval Architects, the design element of the renowned Dutch builder, Feadship. You have been tasked with developing a concept design to go on show at a future yacht show. The design should portray Feadship as a leader in cutting-edge yacht design and build. As well as being futuristic, the design must appeal to current and future superyacht owners. It should also include environmental innovations – making use of current and ‘near-future’ technology, and the interior design must anticipate how owners' style of living might evolve in the future. The design should not be so far advanced that no one can relate to it, but something that could be considered a prediction for the near future that inspires current yacht owners. This concept design will be based on an advanced existing hull design and engineering package, whose drawings will be provided. This is your chance to look into the near future and anticipate the demands of future yacht owners. Are you up to the challenge?
