Practicality, comfort and fun were the key themes behind the interior design of this Benetti Mediterraneo 116, designer Ezequiel Farca tells Tory Kingdon...
The yacht, a semi-custom 35 metre Benetti, was designed first and foremost with family life in mind. The clients spend more than half of the year on board and they are a large family of all ages and with differing interests. The space had to offer something to suit the needs of each family member, as well as feel spacious enough for 15 people on board, or intimate enough for two. The overall aesthetic is timeless and harmonious, with elegant lines and bespoke details.
We customised the vessel to its limits to create the desired effect. In the saloon, the dining table is made of Sahara Noir marble, and blends perfectly with a custom-made Swarovski chandelier. On the sundeck, the barbecue grill, bar and side cabinets topped in Matrix marble add a formal element without being too serious; and there is a tailor-made crystal table, whose lightness creates the feeling of space and ensures appreciation of the blue Portofino chairs by Paola Lenti.
Colour in the exterior areas helped to add a fun element to the design and made these areas appeal to the kids – a request of the client. There is also a charming spot on the upper aft deck that has a green, white, yellow and pink colour palette. It’s actually the owner’s favourite area. Everything from the furniture selection to the colour palette – indoors and out – were selected to create a luxurious, comfortable ambience, with practicality of future use also in mind. We were extremely pleased with the results.”
Steal the style
Combine pink and green cushions, such as these Brera Lino Peony pure linen ones, for the vibrant look found on the upper aft deck.
The BB armchairs in mustard hide leather add colour to the otherwise neutral scheme.
The Equatore crystal lamps will add contemporary elegance to a yacht scheme.
Follow Farca’s lead and choose the vibrant Portofino chairs by Paola Lenti for your deck.
The sofa in the saloon of the Mediterraneo is the GranTorino.
