Book it now: B&CxR Riva photography exhibition at ArtMonte-Carlo

26 April 2018 • Written by Zoe Dickens

If you missed the chance to see Gabriele Basilico and Mario Cresci’s fascinating photographic insight into the world of the Riva yard in 2010 then April 2018 presents an unexpected opportunity to view this beautiful collection again.

Initially put on display at the Riva yard in Sarnico, the B&CxR collection was bought by Officina Italiana Design shortly after the exhibition and has taken pride of place in its offices ever since. This month, however, the works will once again go on public view at ArtMonte-Carlo thanks to a collaboration between the yacht design firm, the Villa Croce Museum of Contemporary Art and the Monaco Boat Service.

The images pay homage to the heritage and craftsmanship of Riva

Taking place on April 28 and 29 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, the second edition of the exhibition will be curated by former GQ and Rolling Stone editor and current curator of the Villa Croce museum Carlo Antonelli, along with Peep-Hole co-founder Anna Daneri. Although visitors will have to wait and see which images make it into this showcase, the initial collection was accompanied by an art book containing 50 images by each photographer, highlighting the beauty and tradition of the Riva yard in their own distinct and unique styles.

Thanks to the support offered by the Monaco Boat Service, visitors to the exhibition will be able to complete their immersion in the Riva world at the Grimaldi Forum’s special Riva Lounge or at a number of events being held by the dealer on the waters around the principality.

The collection also showcases the distinct styles of Gabriele Basilico and Mario Cresci

“A year on from the passing of engineer Carlo Riva, we are delighted to once again be able to share a collection so close to our own hearts with the public,” said Officina Italiana Design founders Sergio Beretta and Mauro Micheli. “It pays homage to Riva through our first great passion: art. B&CxR very much sums up 25 years of collaboration during which time our work has been almost invisible, just like the workers and people that for so many years have contributed to building this Italian legend. We believe that these images will find a place in the hearts of many boat and art enthusiasts just have they have done in ours.”

B&CxR takes place during ArtMonte-Carlo on April 28 and 29, 2018, visit italianadesign.it for more information.
