From Michelin-starred dining in Paris and Monaco to new culinary destinations in Kyoto, Ibiza and Miami, Belle Rice rounds up the latest luxury food and drink news shaping the season’s gastronomic agenda.
Monte Carlo or bust
Smart Parisienne fashion brand Jacquemus takes over Monte-Carlo Beach for the second year this summer with a stylish pop-up celebrating the Mediterranean Art de Vivre. Expect a colour combination inspired by this year’s cruise collections, plus a pop-up or two at the hotel – perfect for updating your swimwear collection.
The collaboration runs until 7 October. Also on site? Alongside padel tournaments, the annual swimming competitions and the Petit VIP kids club, there’s a new “cool room” collaboration with Lamborghini Monaco, with a lounge space alongside the courts, plus some openings and updates on the dining front too.
La Vigie Zanoni Monte-Carlo, which opens on 12 June, sits atop the Monte-Carlo Beach peninsula and offers impressive sea views, an orchard of beautifully maintained lemon trees and a menu curated by chef Simone Zanoni serving up Italian fare made with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Also overlooking the Mediterranean, and sourcing much fresh seafood from its depths, is Elsa Marcel Ravin. The restaurant, formerly Elsa, was renamed after being awarded a Michelin star last year and reopens for the summer with its exceptional Jardin Marin menu by chefs Marcel Ravin and Domenico d’Antonio.
Celebrating the richness of the “maritime garden”, dishes are daring and innovative and use fresh products from sustainable fishing approved by the World Ocean Network.
Meanwhile, in the centre of town, there’s a new hotspot to visit on Place du Casino this summer, with the launch of Gustave at Hôtel Hermitage. After a private visit from Prince Albert, the bar’s doors opened on 1 June, offering lunch, dinner and drinks across five spaces, including an outdoor terrace.
At the helm of the drinks menu is head bartender Julien Le Charpentier, formerly of the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat and the Métropole Monte-Carlo, with a speciality list of 10 cocktails made with fresh produce.
The venue, meanwhile, has been designed by Shirine Zirak, who is responsible for many a memorable interior across Monaco; here, the aesthetic has been inspired by the Belle Époque, paying tribute to the elegance of the principality’s golden age and nodding to the wider design of the hotel that plays home to the bar.
With live music played on Thursday to Saturday nights, it’s a hot tip as the place to see and be seen this season.
The crème de la crème
Monsieur Dior in Paris combines the two endeavours the French capital is most renowned for: fashion and fine dining. Located in the historic atelier where the maison was founded in 1946 and still operates from today, the restaurant at 30 Montaigne is run by chef Yannick Alléno and has been awarded its first Michelin star this year, just seven months after its opening in September 2025.
The menu, says Alléno, is designed “like a collection, where shapes, textures and compositions interact with couture aesthetics, the archives and the silhouettes of the House”. Expect specialities such as The Haute Couture Sea Bass with Oscietra Caviar, a langoustine tart and The Christian Dior Egg with Paris ham and caviar.
West meets east
Consistently lauded by critics, three-Michelin-starred Northern California restaurant SingleThread is taking its agriculturally influenced and hyper-seasonal philosophy to Japan in its first ever international project.
SoNoMa by SingleThread will open in the brand-new Capella Kyoto hotel as an intimate 12-seat dining experience and lounge, offering contemporary gastronomy using seasonal ingredients from the SingleThread farm in Healdsburg, California, interwoven with a range of native Kyoto vegetable and floral varieties.
And who better to helm the project than chef Keita Tominaga, who was born in Sonoma County and honed his skills in the kitchens of his family’s Hana Japanese restaurant there. He now returns to his roots with this celebration of Japanese cuisine through the lens of SingleThread’s sustainable ethos. Also on the cards for the group this year? The Selvedge, a new 10-room inn in Healdsburg, set to open in autumn.
Whisky a go go
The Macallan celebrates the launch of the Romantica Collection, a rare single-cask 1986 vintage whisky from a single sherry-seasoned European oak cask. This exceptionally rare 40-year-old is an homage to The Macallan 1926, which was sold for a record-breaking £2.1 million at Sotheby’s in 2023, and bridges a century of the brand’s craftsmanship.
Sir Peter Blake, Valerio Adami and Michael Dillon, the world-renowned artists commissioned to contribute work to the 1926 edition, have returned to create a new interpretation of The Macallan’s legacy over the years, exploring time, community and nature; each has worked on 86 bottles from The Romantica Collection, which comprises just 258 bottles, every one signed exclusively by the artist.
Coming up rosé
The Pantone Color Institute is known the world over for its shade designations, so it was the obvious choice for the team at Tormaresca, the Marchesi Antinori family estate on the Adriatic coast, to collaborate with when defining the colour of their delicate yet fragrant Italian rosé.
The end result? Calafuria Pink, a tone that showcases the wine’s occupation of the distinctive space between its vibrant Salento Negroamaro compatriots and the pale Provençal tones of its origins. A magnum of the rosé will be on sale this summer in a limited-edition Pantone bottle.
The soft spot
Billed as “a love letter” to the golden era of Italy, Il Gattopardo serves up the perfect antidote to London life with a healthy dose of la dolce vita in the middle of Mayfair. The team is headed up by executive chef Massimo Pasquarelli, a native of Abruzzo, who previously worked at the Ritz-Carlton Singapore and spent 10 years with Alain Ducasse.
The à la carte menu offers an array of fish, raw seafood, pizzettes and classic Italian desserts, with a new Linguine alle Cozze on the cards this summer, created with “fresh mussels that, gently opened with garlic, white wine and parsley, release their natural juices to create a rich, flavourful sauce that embraces the pasta. It is the essence of Mediterranean cooking,” says Pasquarelli.
Balearic bliss
This summer, COYA adds another string to its bow with a new addition to its superyacht hotspots in the Balearics. Set within the beachfront resort of Bless Ibiza The Site on Playa d’en Bossa, the Latin American group opens not just a rooftop Pisco Bar and a Peruvian kitchen, but also – for the first time – a collection of 10 branded rooms and suites within the resort.
Opening on 5 June, it’s the perfect stop off for a night ashore, or – given its excellent location just a ten-minute drive from the airport – to meet or see off guests flying in and out of the island. The beach club promises long lazy lunches, while the restaurant will serve up COYA classics like ceviche, crispy octopus and snow crab tostadas from 7pm until 1am.
