Owners' Club: Bermuda Tourist Authority announced as 2022 annual partner

1 March 2022

BOAT International Media (BOAT) is delighted to announce that the Bermuda Tourist Authority (BTA) is its new annual partner for the Owners’ Club in 2022.

With more than 290 members representing 20 different nationalities the Owners’ Club brings together some of the world’s most successful people through their shared passion for yachting. Members are invited to a calendar of Owners’ Club events worldwide as well other BOAT International events, including parties at the Monaco and Fort Lauderdale boat shows.

Bermuda’s iconic pink-sand beaches, phenomenal dive sites and five-star hotels have always attracted some superyacht owners but legalisation had deterred others. However, a new act passed in 2019 now makes it possible for yachts more than 24 metres to receive charter and cruising permits. With enhancements being made to superyacht facilities and a packed calendar – including the return of the Sail Grand Prix (14-15 May) – the BTA is looking forward to welcoming more superyachts back to Bermuda.

“BOAT is delighted to welcome the BTA as a new partner for the Owners’ Club this year,” said Stewart Campbell, editor-in-chief of BOAT. “I spent time in Bermuda during the 2017 America’s Cup and I can see its huge potential as a superyacht destination. With the new legislation now in place there is plenty to talk about, hopefully over a dark n stormy.”

With more than 800 nautical miles of ocean separating Bermuda from the Caribbean the BTA is keen to educate the superyacht community that despite its petite size the island is a superb cruising destination in its own right. With activities on offer ranging from spectacular reef dives and whale watching to indulging in freshly caught lobster on one of the island’s famous pink sand beaches, there is plenty to keep all generations entertained.

Douglas Trueblood, chief sales and marketing officer for the Bermuda Tourist Authority added: "As part of our new strategic re positioning, this partnership aligns our destination as a leader on the global stage and remain confident that our association with BOAT International's Owners' Club will allow Bermuda to share more about our state-of-the-art superyacht facilities and amazing itineraries to showcase Bermuda to the yachting community. We look forward to a long-standing relationship with BOAT to highlight all that our destination has to offer as we truly represent the port of all."
