Nautor’s Swan has thrown out the rule book for their latest reveal: a 55-knot chase boat. In a departure from their performance sailing yachts, the Swan shadow marks the Finnish shipyard’s first foray into powered yachting and was revealed at the beginning of the year.
Swan’s heritage and design DNA has been poured into this new venture and embraces a number of design elements seen on its performance racing yachts. With the design talents of Jarkko Jämsén, Swan was able to create a high-performance chase boat packed with innovative features often found on larger custom or semi-custom yachts.
A movable aft platform, in place of a fixed platform or passerelle, offers guests better access to the water or easier access to the dock when used as a tender, complemented by a walkaround deck. The Swan shadow can be tailored to suit the desires of each individual owner, offering several deck layouts thanks to a smart bolt-on system. In the cockpit, roof options range from a shorter T-top to a long top with telescopic roof pillars and moving glass panels that create a convertible cabin in the case of poor weather. Meanwhile, power comes from three 225 to 250hp outboard engines embedded in the aft platform.
The Swan shadow is the latest addition to Nautor’s Swan’s portfolio and is one of three new models announced, including the ClubSwan 80 and Swan 88.
