44m classic motor yacht Rena sold in 64 days

19 December 2025 • Written by Gabrielle Lazaridis and Emily Dawkins

The 44.2-metre classic motor yacht Rena has been sold just 64 days after joining the market in October this year with BR Marine Group. The deal was completed in-house at the brokerage firm, with Brendan Roney representing the seller and Ken Bracewell and Rebecca Gormley introducing the buyer.

Delivered by Australian yard NQEA in 1989, Rena was conceived as a yacht that "could do everything", including a good turn of speed for coastal cruising without needing to compromise her long range and stability for transatlantic passages. Her impressive capabilities are owed to legendary US naval architect Jack Hargrave, who was also responsible for designing the custom tri-deck's interior and exterior profiles.

A previous owner added 4.5 metres to Rena's LOA in 1994, with the yacht undergoing regular maintenance in the years since. She recently received a new stabiliser system and Starlink connectivity, while a complete rebuild of the yacht's main engines and transmission, as well as an electrical refit on the entire vessel, took place in 2023-2024. Other works included new soft furnishings and new teak, in addition to a long list of technical upgrades.

The main deck saloon offers ample room for socialising with a U-shaped sofa configuration facing another row of couch seating directly opposite. Further forward lies a formal dining table for 10, separated by a wooden partition as a way of defining each individual space.

Pops of navy blue furnishings decorated with embroidered ocean insignia carry a nautical theme throughout the yacht's interior, connecting all the various living spaces. Accommodations are for 14 guests across five staterooms, including a full-beam (7.8-metre) master suite and a VIP cabin on the main deck.

Outside, the 334GT motor yacht boasts expansive deck spaces, which also offer picturesque views from the main deck aft, bridge deck aft and sundeck. Other highlights include an outdoor gym, multiple tanning locations and a healthy inventory of water toys, including two Yamaha WaveRunners and a catamaran landing tender.

According to BOATPro, she was previously withdrawn from the market in November 2024

Powered by twin 1,500hp Caterpillar engines, Rena can reach a maximum speed of 15 knots and a range of 4,000 nautical miles when pared back to her 10-knot cruising speed. She also benefits from a draught of 2.3 metres, allowing her to access most shallow anchorages and marinas.

Rena was last asking $6,500,000.
