New Richard Earp Award for ethical brokerage behaviour
by Malcolm Maclean
Following the recent death of their broker Richard Earp,Fraser Yachts has set up an award scheme as a tribute to his unfailingly gentlemanly conduct and integrity in dealing with clients.
Fraser Yachts believe that these traits should be encouraged in an increasingly competitive industry and the awards will be open to nominees who will be judged on transparency, fair and ethical behaviour, charisma and style. In addition, nominees should be well respected in the industry, have longevity and still be active in the market.
The judges providing the expertise behind the choice are: Eric Blair (Secretary General of LYBRA), Fiona Maureso (President of MYBA), Espen Oeino (Yacht Designer), Jay Tooker (Lawyer at Holman Fenwick Willan), Michael Bremen (Sales Director at Lürssen) and Gianbattista Borea d’Olmo (CEO of the Ports of Monaco).
The group will be chaired by Roberto Giorgi, Chairman of Fraser Yachts. All of the judging panel knew Richard well and respected him for his core values.
Commenting on the creation of the Award Roberto Giorgi explained: “Richard was such a well respected and admired broker that we wanted to find a way to honour his memory and ensure that his attributes are encouraged throughout the industry. As well as being one of the fairest yacht brokers to work with he also had a great sense of humour and charisma that was noticed by everyone he met.”
