A call to Toby Maclaurin at Ocean Independence brings news that he and Yannis Mitsopoulos have signed a 50m part-built explorer yacht for sale.

Under construction at the Mega Technica Shipyard to ABS class and designed by Christiano Gatto, her hull and superstructure are complete with twin 1,410hp MTU engines and main machinery installed. A range of further equipment has been purchased and is currently in storage.

Featuring five decks, with accommodation for 12 guests in six staterooms and 12 crew in seven cabins, she will be an ocean-going luxury explorer of full displacement type. She features a round bilge hull, transom stern and semi-flared bow, with a welded steel hull and aluminum superstructure. She is the second hull in the 50m Cosmo Explorer series, following on from her sistership's launch in May 2013.

Delivery would be 18 months from signature of contract and the asking price is €4.4 million.
