Superyacht conversion Balboa for sale at All Ocean Yachts
by Malcolm MacLean
Anyone itching to take on a motor yacht ripe for conversion to a luxury expedition yacht might want to take a look at the latest offering from Vince Krivanek at All Ocean Yachts, a 42.2m project called Balboa.
She's ready and waiting for a new owner to complete the conversion of this North Sea trawler, built by Maaskant Shipyards in 1989, to a world class expedition superyacht. The current owners have decided to halt the conversion plans and put the ship on the market and much work has already been completed.
The work includes removing all insulation in the fish hold; removing fishing gear, winches and masting, removing the rubbing strakes, eliminating all direct current equipment that was needed to power the winches and removing two generators to make room for smaller units. She is planned to have six cabins and a single 2000hp Deutz engine will give her a range of 5,000 nautical miles. Detailed plans, drawings and renderings are available and the asking price is $625,000.
