2014-01-20By Risa Merl

The annual Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous will take place 19-22 March, 2014, in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands – but registration for the premier superyacht event closes on 31, January, 2014.

The list of superyachts participating in the regatta portion – along with superb motor yachts signed up as spectators and for the social programme – is filling up fast with esteemed entries.

There are already 21 sailing superyachts that have confirmed entry, ranging from the 66.7m Baltic Yachts' superyacht Hetairos to the 55m Vitters-built classically styled superyacht Marie ( see video of Marie racing in the Caribbean here). Also included on the list are new launches including Perini Navi's 60m Seahawk and Arkin Pruva Yachts' Tempus Fugit.

Motor yachts signed up for Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous include Bella Una and Ingot from Burger Boat Company and Sally Slade from Princess Yachts.

The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous is organised by Boat International Media and Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) and hosted at YCCS' Caribbean outpost in the B.V.I. In addition to a competitive superyacht regatta, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous includes an exclusive programme of social events for which Boat International Media events are renown. A motor yacht cruise-in-company to watch the racing, a Welcome Cocktail party on the YCCS Virgin Gorda lawn, an extravagant beach party hosted by Oil Nut Bay and a Loro Piana Owners' Dinner held at the YCCS Virgin Gorda clubhouse for superyacht owners are just a few of the fantastic social events taking place.

Embraer Executive Jets has recently joined as a gold sponsor in support of the event, joining an impressive list of sponsors and partners.

The event welcomes both sailing and motor superyachts with an LOA of 80 feet or more (24m+). Registration is recommended in the new two weeks to secure a place in the regatta fleet and a berth at the YCCS Virgin Gorda Marina.
