Antonio Luxardo unveils all-aluminium Amer 42A superyacht

26 June 2026 • Written by Emily Dawkins

Architect Antonio Luxardo has unveiled a new superyacht design for Italian shipyard Amer Yachts, known as the Amer 42A.

At 42 metres long, the design is characterised by light, sculptural proportions resulting in a sporty, dynamic profile and a "discreet presence" on the water. The A stands for aluminium, as the project will be constructed entirely in aluminium to reduce overall weight while simultaneously improving performance, enabling higher speeds with greater efficiency.

In order to convey "dynamism and sportiness", Luxardo has introduced a personalised design language into the Amer 42A. Complementing this are large windows, which also enhance the interior-exterior connection from inside, and decks arranged in a sinuous movement. The designer explained that aluminium was chosen to allow for the yacht's smooth curves, undercuts, overhangs and cantilevers to be "like no other".

According to Luxardo, each design choice outside translates into the onboard experience within, across shared areas such as the sundeck designed for relaxation, and private spaces including the full-beam owner's suite on the main deck. Guest cabins are situated on the lower deck.

The spacious main deck aft is tiered with steps leading to the water's edge and fold-down bulwarks opening on either side

This new design forms part of continued stylistic and product research developed by Luxardo for the Amer Yachts brand - a collaboration that began five years ago with the shipyard's Steel line and continued with the new fibreglass models 96 Sanremo, F106 and F126.

Construction is currently underway on the yard's flagship build and the first unit from its 73.8-metre Amer 74 Steel line, which was also penned by Luxardo. Delivery is scheduled for next year.
