Finnish shipyard Baltic Yachts has announced a new addition to its fleet with a 24-metre custom bluewater cruising sloop. Set to be delivered in summer 2027, the Baltic 78 Custom has been designed for a family with "ambitious cruising plans" in the Mediterranean and Caribbean.
According to the builder, conversations for the build began in late Autumn 2025, with the owners seeking generous internal volume and true long-range comfort without compromising a high-performance sailing experience. As a result, the custom yacht features a composite construction, with naval architecture owed to judel/vrolijk design & co and interiors penned by Design Unlimited, whose previous collaborations with Baltic Yachts include the Baltic 175, Pink Gin (now Scorpione of London), and Baltic 108, WinWin.
Once delivered, the yacht is set to pair "bluewater performance with the comforts of home," thanks to the yard's engineering, technology and construction. As such, the custom build will feature a semi-fixed bimini (removable but not folding), to offer essential protection from the elements, while also facilitating mainsail handling when stowing for comfortable sailing in all conditions.
The yacht will also be fitted with a battery bank for extended periods of silent operation at anchor, while a lifting keel will allow her owner to explore shallow bays and anchorages with "confident" offshore performance.
The unveiling comes at a busy time for Baltic Yachts, which celebrated the launch of its 37-metre Baltic 121 Custom cruising sloop last week. The shipyard is scheduled to launch its first multihull project, a 32.9-metre bluewater cruising catamaran known as the Baltic 107, this year.
