37m Baltic 121 Custom sloop sailing yacht Alice delivered to owner

Finnish builder Baltic Yachts has announced the delivery of its Baltic 121 Custom cruising sloop Alice to her owner. 

The 37.1-metre new build was launched earlier this year, in May, from the yard's facilities in Jakobstad, Finland, revealing her all-carbon construction, generous sail plan and contemporary glass deckhouse. 

A high-performance, bluewater cruiser, Malcolm McKeon is responsible for the yacht's naval architecture and exterior styling, while interiors are the work of Adam Lay Studio. The build brief was focused on extensive family cruising with an emphasis on "safe and reliable systems using well-proven technologies". 

Defined by a strong connection between the inside and outside spaces, Alice's exterior features extensive glazing throughout the deckhouse, providing panoramic views and bathing her interiors with natural light. On deck, her fixed bimini offers guests shelter and shade both underway and at anchor.

Subtle references to nature are a defining characteristic of her interior. Tree branch-inspired lights adorn the walls, while the cabins feature textured veneer inserts reminiscent of rippling water.

"Alice’s owner wanted a natural, textural interior with a robust and comfortable environment that would feel safe and inviting for the whole family," explained interior designer Adam Lay. "We used materials and textures that become more interesting the closer you look at them. The brushed walnut, textured veneers, fabrics and lighting all work together to create a calm, tactile environment that connects the interior with the natural world outside."

Designed to run efficiently with a limited crew, Alice can leave the dock and be under sail in just a few minutes, with her captive halyard and in-boom-furling mainsail and furling headsails all easily controlled and trimmed. Alongside this, she features a telescopic keel which can be lowered from 4.2 to 6.4 metres for flexible sailing opportunities. 

The contract for the custom project was announced in June 2024, with Daniel Calascione of A2B Marine Projects representing the owner throughout construction. He said of the delivery: "The craftsmanship of the Finnish people is unlike any other craftsmanship in the world. There is a meticulous attention to detail and a real sense of pride in everyone working on the project. You see that every boat that is delivered carries a little piece of everyone’s heart with it."

Alice is currently located in the waters near Port Bannatyne, Scotland, according to BOATPro's Global AIS tracker. In July this year, Baltic Yachts revealed new details of the first hull in its Baltic 80 Café Racer series, ahead of its 2027 delivery.
