Listen now: BOAT Briefing featuring Black Pearl captain Chris Gartner

11 December 2020

In this week's episode of BOAT Briefing, we hear what it's like to steer the world's largest sailing yacht, 106.7 metre Black Pearl, built by Oceanco. Our interviewee this week is Chris Gartner, captain of the yacht, and he sat down with executive editor Cecile Gauert to discuss everything from his start in yachting, to blowing out sails in big weather.

The team also talk through the annual superyacht migration from the Med to warmer waters in the Caribbean and Asia. One of those boats heading east is the new Damen SeaXplorer La Datcha, whose owner, Oleg Tinkov, was recently interviewed by deputy editor Caroline White.

Caroline talks through all the biggest headlines from the week, including Italian shipyard Wider's partnership with Pajot Custom Yachts to build an innovative 34 metre sailing catamaran, and reveals details about 67 metre Benetti project Rinascimento. We also discuss delays, and some of the more fascinating superyacht projects on hold around the world.
