The first-of-its-kind sailing summit for yacht owners and industry experts will be held on November 13 at the Yacht Club de Monaco.
Hosted by BOAT International, the event will explore the state of the sailing yacht market and delve into the future of sailing. The agenda has been curated by BOAT International editors and will include topics such as technology, design and innovation for speed, comfort and exploration under sail.
“The idea for the sailing summit follows on from the success of Life Under Sail, our bi-annual magazine we launched in 2018,” says BOAT International co-CEO Tony Euden. “We wanted to dedicate more coverage to the sailing market with the magazine and now believe a live version of Life Under Sail is the perfect opportunity to support this key sector.”
PURCHASE TICKETSThe November 13 event will bring together top racing and cruising yacht builders including Nautor’s Swan, Southern Wind, Perini Navi, Wally and Baltic; renowned naval architects from the studios of Dykstra Naval Architects and Hoek Design; experienced sailor/entrepreneurs such as Gordon Kay, Michael Schmidt, Stefano de Vivo and Alain Janet; top sailing yacht brokers and charter experts including Jonathan Beckett, Will Bishop and Barbara Müller; and innovators such as Marcello Persico of Persico Marine and experts from North Technology Group.
Q&A sessions will see panels fielding questions on factors that may be impeding growth of the sailing market while other presentations will offer ideas on how to entice the next generation into sailing yacht ownership via new designs and greener building and operating methods.
“With sailing being such a naturally low-carbon-impact leisure activity, we are gathering people to talk about where we go from here to encourage participation and the kind of investment in superyacht innovation that we are seeing in the smaller sailing yacht market,” says Life Under Sail editor Marilyn Mower.
