Codecasa presents second aircraft-inspired yacht concept Jet 50

16 February 2023 • Written by Brooke Murphy

Italian yard Codecasa has presented a second jet-inspired concept named Jet 50 hot on the heels of the first 70-metre Jet 2020, first revealed three years ago. The new concept is 49.9 metres in length and features a GT under 500.

Fulvio Codecasa created the designs for the Jet 50 in collaboration with naval architect Tommaso Spadolini, and made slight, effective changes to the external lines and balance of internal spaces to create the more compact Jet 50. The design team is responsible for the distinctive look of both models.

Both projects are being overseen by Codecasa, and the yard has drawn inspiration from the stylistic features of aviation and said the result is something “never seen before on the sea.” Air inlets recall a jet engine's structure and radar antennas installed inside carbon fibre domes are done in the “typical style of AWACS aeroplanes”.

Both models feature raised helipads on the aft which "develop vertically” to recall the “tail of an aircraft.” Amidhips, there is a recessed pool.

The proposed models are planned with all global shipping certifications and will be equipped with the “most innovative technological equipment available on the market".

Details of the Jet 2020 include an aft deck area dedicated to the owner’s suite that spans two levels. Meanwhile, eight guests are accommodated in four cabins on the lower deck.

The crew quarters sit forward of the lower deck while the captain’s cabin is adjoined to the pilothouse on the bridge deck. This deck is serviced by a second lift connecting all three decks.
