Cristiano Mariani Architect presents new 118m explorer concept

Italian studio Cristiano Mariani Architect has unveiled a new 118 concept designed for “the most demanding customers who want to experience the sea at 360 degrees”.

According to Cristiano Mariani, who heads up the design firm, the yacht has been conceived as an explorer that combines the functionality of a support yacht with the luxuries of a superyacht.

Key to the concept’s identity is a large toy locker which includes two 18 metre yachts and an 18 metre full-custom aluminium fast catamaran that’s equipped with hybrid propulsion and solar panel technology. There is also space for a submarine.

The concept leaves plenty of scope for an owner or shipyard to customise the interior. Mariani also noted that the vessel could be operated as a “mini cruise ship” or as a private superyacht.

The owner is given the possibility of having their own deck, which offers 250 square metres of space and 360 degrees views. Furthermore, the owner’s cabin offers a direct connection to the sundeck of the yacht, where is there is a gym.

With polar capacities, the 6,500 GT yacht is “ideal for charter and for the client who truly loves life at sea, without losing the privilege of maximum comfort,” according to Mariani. In terms of its exterior, the yacht revolves around a “no frills” ethos with a strong profile defined by an upper deck helipad and robust lines.

Accommodation is offered for up to 30 guests in 15 cabins.

Other onboard highlights include a cinema room, cigar room, library room, winter garden and beauty room. There is also a swimming pool which measures 12 by six metres alongside a generous Jacuzzi.
