The first 58-metre SeaXplorer by Damen Yachting has been spotted on sea trials in the Mediterranean bearing her new name Pink Shadow. Construction on the custom explorer was started on speculation and she is the first SeaXplorer model to have been built at the yard's Antalya site in Turkey.
The yacht was sold during construction and the owner was able to offer "considerable input" into its design, working in collaboration with British studio Design Unlimited on the interior. Azure Yacht Design has created the exterior and the yacht features a number of contributions from design partner EYOS Expeditions.
Pink Shadow was launched in January 2023 and is due for delivery in the coming months.
The yard said that the owner intends to use the yacht for "globetrotting exploration" and has a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 11.5 knots. An ice-class hull and 30 days of autonomy will help facilitate her adventures, while eco-focused features like large waste tanks will ensure she can cruise in sensitive environments without leaving an impact.
Pink Shadow will carry a variety of toys and tenders, including two multi-use tenders, motorcycles and vehicles for both on and off-road use. She also has an 11.4-metre sail sailing yacht in her arsenal.
When not exploring, guests can make use of the lower deck's cabana-style bar, lounge and infinity-edged pool. There is an alternative lounge area on the bridge deck with a Jacuzzi, skylounge and dining area and the yacht also has the SeaXplorer signature observation lounge tucked into the bow.
The 1,090GT superyacht can accommodate 12 guests in six cabins with a complement of fifteen crew, plus two expedition staff. The yacht's interior themes are “very personal and intriguing” and will “celebrate the spirit of exploration”, according to the yard.
Speaking on the new launch, Enrique Tintore, SeaXplorer design manager, said: "We are very happy with how the sea trials are going and are looking forward to delivering this SeaXplorer to the owner in the very near future. She performed and looked great sailing for first time and is certainly a head-turning yacht with her unique colour scheme and design features.”
He added that the team would now turn their attention to the first SeaXplorer 60, which is scheduled for delivery in spring 2024.
The new 60-metre SeaXplorer 60 will offer enhanced sustainability courtesy of Hybrid by Amels technology. This feature enables cruising at speeds of up to seven knots on electric propulsion, which claims to significantly lower noise, vibration and emissions.
Pink Shadow will be the third yacht delivered from Damen Yachting’s SeaXplorer range following the SeaXplorer 62 Anawa and SeaXplorer 77 La Datcha.
