Two days before the end of 2010 saw a great moment for Diverse Projects with the launch of Black Pearl, the largest yacht ever built by this New Zealand yard based in Whangarei.

Previously known as hull number DP-08, the all-aluminium Black Pearl has a length of 31.5m. She was designed by LOMOcean while her interior was styled by Chris Connell. The layout accommodates 8 guests in a master suite, a VIP and two further double cabins. The crew accommodation is for five.

Designed for long range cruise, Black Pearl is powered by twin Caterpillar C-18 ACERT engines of 600hp each giving a cruising speed of 12 knots. She's also trans-Atlantic capable with 10% reserve thanks to a fuel capacity of 27,000 litres.

Black Pearl will be delivered on January 22 in Auckland, then the yacht will start a circumnavigation via the Mediterranean coasts.
