Italian yard Canados has announced a new day cruiser that it says will be the fastest yacht of its kind on the market, capable of speeds in excess of 52 knots.
Powered by triple MAN 2000hp engines and surface drives, the 27.8 metre 919 Gladiator RD Series will combine the thrill of an offshore boat with the comfort and luxury of a superyacht, the Rome-based yard promises.
The automotive-inspired, centre cockpit, open design features a double-curve, one-piece laminated glass windshield that has been developed to deflect airflow from the cockpit, even at the highest speeds.
The series is designed to be able to continue to run at a constant cruising speed of 44 knots – even in 1.5 metre seas. Top speed over the ground is 52 knots plus.
The yard says: “With such performances, she will be, bar none, the fastest production luxury super day cruiser on the market.”
Structural bulwarks make it safe to move around the boat even while under way, and recessed sunpads on the foredeck increase the feeling of security.
The 919 RD’s 65 square metre cockpit features nine square metres of sunpads aft, face-to-face sofas with coffee tables, a side bar, central dining table, chaises longues and an outdoor galley.
Interiors will be made to measure, with three or four cabins. Both versions will come with a full-beam master suite with sofa, desk/vanity, and separated galley and crew quarters for three.
Gyro-stabilisation system is standard, and owners can choose a twin-engine MTU package instead of triple MAN, and also opt for conventional propeller shafts if they are not looking for full speed capability.
Headquartered in Rome, Italy, Canados builds luxury semi-custom composite yachts from 23.46 to 36 meters in length.
The first Gladiator 919 RD Series will be launched for the 2020 season and will be presented to the public at the Monaco and Genoa yacht shows in 2020.
