The 26.9-metre Leopard motor yacht Principessa Matera has been destroyed following a fire off the coast of Capo Noli in Italy. The alarm was raised at approximately 2.00pm yesterday (6 November), with authorities intervening and successfully evacuating the three people onboard.
Imagery released by the Vigili del Fuoco team (Italy's fire and rescue service) shows the extent of the damage, with Principessa Matera burnt down to the waterline. Recovery operations involved the intervention of two motorboats from Genoa and Savona and aerial reconnaissance using a Drago helicopter.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Principessa Matera belongs to the Leopard 27M series, with key features including fixed sunpads on the aft deck and bow, accommodation for seven guests and and an impressive top speed of 35 knots. Exterior design is by Italian studio Paolo Caliari.
