New 28m Leopard in the works

9 November 2022 • Written by Brooke Murphy

Following its acquisition by Seven Stars last year, Leopard Yachts is commencing construction on a new 28 metre model in collaboration with Permare

Called Leopard 28m, the model features exterior and interior design led by Andrea Ramasco and naval architecture thanks to Permare Shipyard and Optima Design. According to Pemare, it boasts a contemporary layout and "increased efficiency" when compared to older Leopard models.

Built in GRP, the Leopard 28 has a beam of 6.8 metres and a maximum draught of 1.8 metres.  It will feature accommodation for eight guests across four cabins with a crew capacity of three across a captain's quarters and another cabin with two berths.

The Leopard 28 will be powered by a triple Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1350 – 1000 Hp IPS that, combined with advanced technological research, will allow for low fuel consumption at a cruising speed of 28 knots and maximum speed of 32 knots.

The model will be produced in collaboration with the Ligurian-based Permare and is a step away from the usual Tombolo shipyard in Pisa, known as the historic home of Leopard Yachts.

The story of Leopard Yachts began production in 1907, when the Picchiotti family established the Giuseppe Picchiotti e Figli shipyard off Italy’s Tuscany coast. In 1973 the family collaborated with Paolo Caliari to create the first Leopard Yacht and now Seven Stars has received the blessing of founder Piero Picchiotti to oversee the resurgence of the legendary brand in partnership with Permare.

With years of experience between them, the all-Italian team hopes to see the new yacht in water in 2023.
