British charity Mercy Ships raised $1,130,000 at the second annual Mercy Ships Yachting Day Gala, held during the Cannes Yachting Festival.
More than 240 delegates and stakeholders from across the superyacht sector attended the event, which supported Mercy Ships' ongoing mission to deliver surgical care and medical training in sub-Saharan Africa.
Funding raised through ticket sales, private donations, matching partners and a live auction will directly support operations on board the charity's two hospital vessels, Global Mercy and Africa Mercy.
"The yachting community’s generosity will echo far beyond the Grand Ballroom of the Carlton – across oceans and into the lives of countless individuals who will never forget what your compassion made possible," said Carl-Gustav Svanström, vice chair of Mercy Ships Global.
The event included a performance by the Gypsy Queens and a live auction led by Phillips senior watch specialist, Marcello di Marco.
